Bringing community together through music.

Our mission for Marine Candlelight Series is to provide community enrichment for the town of Marine on Saint Croix and surrounding areas. We aim to establish a place where high-quality chamber music can be heard in an intimate setting, joining audience and artist together for a shared appreciation of the arts.

Marine Candlelight Series Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that the Marine Candlelight Series takes place on the traditional, ancestral, and contemporary lands of the Dakota and Anishinaabe peoples. These lands were ceded to the United States through the Treaties of 1837, a process marked by broken promises, displacement, and profound harm to Indigenous communities.

As we gather to celebrate music and community in Marine on St. Croix, we recognize that this beauty and connection are made possible by a complex and painful history. The river valley we cherish has long been a place of life, culture, and ceremony for Indigenous peoples, whose stewardship of the land predates our presence here.

We honor the enduring strength and contributions of Dakota and Anishinaabe peoples, past and present. We commit to learning from this history, listening to Indigenous voices, and fostering respectful relationships with the land and its original caretakers.

We intend for this acknowledgement be more than words—it is an invitation to deepen our understanding, reflect on our shared responsibilities, and ensure that the arts we celebrate also serve as a bridge toward justice and healing.
